About the Island Curaçao

The capital of Curaçao is Willemstad. The historic centre of Willemstad is one of UNESCO’s World Heritage sites and features many Dutch influenced architectural landmarks. Located in the tropics, just 12° north of the Equator, Curaçao has a warm, sunny climate all year round.

The average temperature is about 27° C. Curaçao is located outside the hurricane belt. In 2006, a brand new Curaçao International Airport Terminal was opened, which has a capacity of 1.6 million passengers a year (and will be expanded to 2.5 million). 

The island has a strong airlift with daily flight connections to Europe, North, Central and South America as well as the entire Caribbean region.

Some of the airlines serving the island are:
KLM, American Airlines, Air Canada, Copa Airlines,
Avianca, Surinam Airways, and TUI.
The local population is very friendly and speaks several languages beside their native Papiamentu. Most people speak English, Spanish and Dutch. For many years Curaçao has been working hard at receiving recognition for being a tourist paradise. Frommer’s noted this fact and recently added Curaçao to its 2012 list of the ‘top 10 places to visit in the Caribbean’.
